Java and Perl are cross-platform languages. Most modern computers are able to run Java straight away. Perl requires some Perl application. These are available for free for most any computer, but might be a bit difficult to figure out for an inexperienced computer user. Online are programs that can be accessed through Internet. Since they are run on the server, not your own computer, they can be used by any computer connected to the internet. - Function
