  • abc2MIDI is a must for those who wish (or need) to generate MIDI output and don't want to spend too much time tweaking this and that in a WYSIWYG environment (like that some score editors provide) or struggling with binary MIDI editing. As it uses extended ABC for input, you can do the tweaking in semantic terms by editing an existing abc file and filtering the source with the program.
I generally use it to test how my arrangements sound quick and dirty or to generate more elaborate MIDIs for demo or training purposes. As far as I've tried, fine tuning the dynamics and expression requires some work, but that should be a matter of copy-and-paste-and-edit -- a lot easier than clicking dialogs again and again (or calculating raw MIDI parameters).
    Just great!
